Ordenadas alfab\u00e9ticamente, esas definiciones son reflexiones sint\u00e9ticas, rigurosas y l\u00fadicas. De entrada, contiene una cronolog\u00eda monumental que abarca veintis\u00e9is siglos. En ella Jaume Melendres escoge los hitos del arte dram\u00e1tico universal \u2012concretando teor\u00edas, autores, obras, etc\u00e9tera\u2012, los sit\u00faa en su correspondiente \u00e1mbito geogr\u00e1fico y temporal, y los contextualiza dentro de la historia de la humanidad, relacion\u00e1ndolos con otras grandes aportaciones art\u00edsticas, cient\u00edficas o t\u00e9cnicas que estaban teniendo lugar en cada \u00e9poca. Adem\u00e1s, el volumen concluye con un extraordinario esquema de doble columna en el que Jaume Melendres organiza las innumerables tesis y ant\u00edtesis que los distintos te\u00f3ricos dram\u00e1ticos han formulado sobre cuestiones como la esencia, la finalidad o los modelos art\u00edsticos del teatro. Ambos funcionan como catalizadores de ideas, opiniones o intuiciones in\u00e9ditas. Jaume Melendres consigue cartografiar la historia del teatro desde la perspectiva de la teor\u00eda dram\u00e1tica y present\u00e1rnosla con sencillez di\u00e1fana gracias a su conocimiento enciclop\u00e9dico. Por esa sabidur\u00eda, el grueso del volumen y su aut\u00e9ntico plato fuerte es el relato que el autor hace de su propio y dilatado viaje a trav\u00e9s del pensamiento teatral.
